Al-'Alaq 96:13

As narrated from Abu Hurayra in Muslim, Abu Jahl asked, "Does Muhammad still put his face to the ground among you?" and swore that if he saw him praying he would trample on his neck. He approached the Prophet while he was in prayer, but suddenly recoiled, shielding himself with his hands. When asked, he said he had seen between himself and the Prophet a trench of fire, a terrifying sight, and wings. Thereupon the verses were revealed: "No indeed! Man surely transgresses, deeming himself self-sufficient... Have you seen the one who forbids a servant when he prays?" In Ibn Abbas's narration in Bukhari, the verse "Then let him call his council; We will call the guards of Hell" is also reported to have come down concerning this event.

The first five verses of Surah al-Alaq are the first revelation of the Quran; as related from Aisha in Bukhari and Muslim, they inaugurated the prophetic mission in the cave of Hira with the address 'Recite in the name of your Lord who created'. The remaining verses are reported to have come down later, concerning the man who tried to prevent a servant (the Prophet) from praying; reports identify him as Abu Jahl.
