لَهُم مِّن جَهَنَّمَ مِهَادٌ وَمِن فَوْقِهِمْ غَوَاشٍ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
They will have from Hell a bed and over them coverings [of fire]. And thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideAl-A'raf is Meccan and one of the longest surahs of the late Meccan period. Through the stories of prophets such as Noah, Hud, Salih, Lot, Shu'ayb and Moses, it warns the resistant Meccan society by recounting the fate of earlier nations that rejected their messengers.
