Al-Falaq 113:1

Surah al-Falaq, together with Surah an-Nas, is known as one of the 'Mu'awwidhatayn' (the two surahs of refuge); its place of revelation is disputed, with scholars holding it either Meccan or Medinan. Those who deem it Medinan rely on reports in Bukhari and Muslim connecting these surahs with seeking refuge after sorcery was worked against the Prophet in Medina (the incident of Labid ibn al-A'sam in the reports). The surah teaches taking refuge in the Lord of the daybreak from the evil of what He has created, of darkness, of those who blow on knots, and of the envier.
