Al-Fatihah 1:1

According to the predominant view, al-Fatiha is Meccan, revealed in the early years of prophethood when the ritual prayer was first being established; some reports hold it to be Medinan or revealed twice. As the opening of the Quran and the core element of the prayer, it frames the relationship between the servant and God. It is generally identified with the 'seven oft-repeated verses' (sab' al-mathani) mentioned in Surah al-Hijr.
