لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٨٨

Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers

Al-Hijr is Meccan, dated to the middle-to-late Meccan period. It consoles the Prophet in an atmosphere of intensifying mockery and denial; the verse 'Proclaim openly what you are commanded' is associated with the phase of public preaching, and the surah affirms that the Quran is under divine protection.
