Al-Hijr 15:95

According to the sirah sources, in the first years of prophethood the call to Islam was carried out in secret. When the verse "Proclaim openly what you are commanded, and turn away from the polytheists" was revealed, the Prophet began to preach publicly. The following verse, "We are sufficient for you against the mockers," conveys God's promise of protection against the mockery and hostility that intensified with the open call.

Al-Hijr is Meccan, dated to the middle-to-late Meccan period. It consoles the Prophet in an atmosphere of intensifying mockery and denial; the verse 'Proclaim openly what you are commanded' is associated with the phase of public preaching, and the surah affirms that the Quran is under divine protection.
