وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,

Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideThe place of revelation of Surah al-Insan (ad-Dahr) is disputed: some scholars held it Meccan, others Medinan, and some said part of it came down in Medina. Certain reports connect the verses praising those who feed the poor, the orphan, and the captive with acts of charity in Medina. The surah recounts the creation of man, his choice between belief and denial, and the delights of Paradise promised to those who give sincerely.
