Al-Inshiqaq 84:17

Surah al-Inshiqaq is Meccan, held to belong to the early Meccan period. After depicting the Last Day beginning with the splitting of the sky and the levelling of the earth, it contrasts the fate of those given their record in their right hand with those given it from behind their back. Declaring that man will pass onward from stage to stage, it questions the stance of the Meccan deniers who would not believe or prostrate when the Quran was recited to them.
