وَأَلَّوِ ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقًا
And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision

Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideSurah al-Jinn is Meccan, revealed in the late Meccan period, according to reports around the time of the Prophet's journey to Ta'if (about the tenth year of prophethood). The surah relates that a group of jinn listened to the Quran being recited, believed, and returned to their people with the news; a report on this event is transmitted from Ibn Abbas in Bukhari and Muslim. It thereby underscores that the call is not limited to humankind and that knowledge of the unseen belongs to God.
