كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ
The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.

Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideAl-Qamar is Meccan, dated to the middle Meccan period. It opens with a reference to the splitting of the moon, an event related in sound reports; the Quraysh, who persisted in denial nonetheless, are warned through the fates of the peoples of Noah, Ad, Thamud, Lot and Pharaoh.
