وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ وَٱلنُّجُومُ مُسَخَّرَٰتٌۢ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ
And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.
Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideAn-Nahl is Meccan, dated to the late Meccan period; there is a report that its closing verses on retaliation were revealed in Medina after Uhud. It marshals proofs of God's oneness through His blessings, and counsels the persecuted believers to be patient and to invite with wisdom and fair exhortation.
