Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideSurah an-Nazi'at is Meccan, held to belong to the early Meccan period. To the deniers who thought the Judgment remote and impossible, asking 'Shall we be restored to our former state?', it declares that the resurrection will occur for God with a single command. Briefly recalling the story of Moses and Pharaoh, it points to the end of tyrannical powers and consoles the Prophet.
