Ar-Rahman 55:48

The place of revelation of ar-Rahman is disputed, but the predominant view holds it to be Meccan. Its foregrounding of the divine name 'the Most Merciful' has been read as a response to the Meccan pagans who balked at that name. Enumerating God's acts of creation and bounty, it repeatedly asks humans and jinn, 'Which of your Lord's favors will you deny?'
