At-Taghabun 64:6

Juz 28 · Page 556

That is because their messengers used to come to them with clear evidences, but they said, "Shall human beings guide us?" and disbelieved and turned away. And Allah dispensed [with them]; and Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy.

Context

Revelation context of the surah

Surah-wide

Surah at-Taghabun is, according to the prevailing view, Medinan, though some scholars held it to be Meccan or partly Meccan. While its style resembles Meccan surahs, a report transmitted in Tirmidhi states that the verses declaring that spouses and children may be a trial were revealed concerning people whose families had delayed their emigration. The surah treats God's oneness, the resurrection, balance in family ties, and spending in charity.
