وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ ٱشْمَأَزَّتْ قُلُوبُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ ٤٥

And when Allah is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those [worshipped] other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice.

Az-Zumar is Meccan, dated to the late Meccan period. It rejects polytheism on the axis of devoting religion sincerely to God alone. According to reports, the verse 'God's earth is spacious' is associated with the believers compelled by persecution to emigrate, namely those who went to Abyssinia.
