قِيلَ ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
[To them] it will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant."

Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideAz-Zumar is Meccan, dated to the late Meccan period. It rejects polytheism on the axis of devoting religion sincerely to God alone. According to reports, the verse 'God's earth is spacious' is associated with the believers compelled by persecution to emigrate, namely those who went to Abyssinia.
