ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ
It is Allah who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people are not grateful.
Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideGhafir (al-Mu'min) is Meccan, dated to the late Meccan period, and is the first of the surahs opening with Ha-Mim. In a setting where the pagans persisted in denial and plotted against the Prophet, it offers both consolation and warning through the story of the believer of Pharaoh's house who concealed his faith.
