قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.

Revelation context of the surah
Surah-wideSurah Nuh is Meccan, held to have been revealed in the middle Meccan period. From beginning to end it recounts the prophet Noah's long struggle to deliver his message, the obstinacy of his people, and their destruction in the flood. The story consoles the Prophet and the believers facing denial and persecution in Mecca and recalls the end of those who persist in disbelief.
